I recently learned about my friends passing. Josh was an exceptionally kind and loving person. I wish I could have helped him in any capacity. It pains me to believe that his memory could be tarnished by a few mistakes. All else being equal; Josh was a Berkeley Prep soccer stud, Alabama Champ, a legal scholar who passed the tests, one hell of a good guy, and a damn talented outdoors man. You learn from being around humble ingredients and even people. The true ingredient people criticize when they can’t comprehend is finesse. Finesse translates (in any language) to giving a shit. Josh had finesse. We will always love Josh for being that guy who always wanted to help us be better. That was my friend Josh.

Please accept my condolences. I remember all of the fun we had as kids. I wish we kept in better contact as adults. Josh will be missed.

I am just stunned to have just learned of Josh's passing. May God give this family comfort as I know they surely need it. Josh was an incredibly kind man. Always had time to say hello and even though he had troubles, he was able to survive and smile. He will certainly be missed.

Dear Stewart Family,
I write this message with an extremely heavy heart, many tears, and deep sadness. I wanted to tell you how much Josh meant to me as a friend, and I hope that my message brings you and your family much comfort during this tragic time.
During our years at Stetson Law, Josh always brought a smile and laugh whenever we were together and wherever he went. His laugh was infectious and it matched his debonair looks and personality. I was bullied a lot in law school, but Josh always stood by my side, as my protector and confidant. When classes got stressful, he would bring Twizzlers by my apartment during our study sessions and he would ease the stress and tension by telling jokes. We spent many nights out around Tampa, always looking for a live band that we could listen to and enjoy.
Josh had a terrific sense of humor -- he once bought me a small picture with a quote that said, "Being in love is the best 2.5 days of your life." It made me laugh incessantly, even to this day. It's something only Josh would think is the perfect gift to give me. Josh knew and understood that I was a fickle person who was always changing my mind.
After law school, we kept in touch and even in recent years, he always reached out to see how I was doing, whether by email or Facebook. In my final years of practicing law, Josh and I spoke extensively about my desires to want to leave the profession and the anxiety I faced in arriving at that decision. He called, messaged me, and even sent me a short video to make me smile. He was full of encouragement and positivity to others even if he had fallen on hard times. My only regret is that I wish that I had reached out to him more in recent times to tell him how much he meant to me as a friend for all of these years. His warmth, humor, and kindness are things I will always cherish and hold deeply in my heart.
With love always,
Wendi
