Born December 23, 1919 passed away November 3, 2016. Born in Pelham, GA. He lived in Coolidge, GA, Cairo and Thomasville, GA. He lived in New Jersey from 1955 to 1973 and moved to Staten Island, NY and worked for Two Guys from Harrison, NJ, retiring as Produce Manager after seventeen years. He moved from Staten Island to Port Richey, FL in 1984. Bill comes from a large family. There were 5 brothers and two sisters. Survivors include wife Dorothy, sons Lanier, Gary and Askew; daughter Valene; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Godwin is pre-deceased by daughter Sherlyn; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He was in the National Guard of Georgia, mobilized on September 16, 1940. He was in the eighth infantry division, 121st infantry regiment, Europe 1944-1945, in the Korean War 24th Infantry division, 19th infantry regiment 1950-1951. Retired from the Army as MSGT in 1963 with 21 1/2 years of service. He is a master mason and a thirty second degree of the Scottish Rite of Tampa, Florida. He was a member of the Lakes of Regency Civic Association. He was assistant bingo chairman of Lakes of Regency. He was a president of Happy Neighbors Club of Port Richey, FL and Hi 12 #441. He loved sports and was an average bowler
