Obituary of Dorothy J. Wolf

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Jean Wolf (known by friends as “Jean”) took the hand of our Lord on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in Palm Harbor, FL. Jean was born on July 21, 1929 in Perry County, Alabama to Ernest E. and Grace Nichols. While raising her two sons as a single mother, she received her Teaching degree from Troy State College and continued her education at the University of Alabama in the evenings, where she was rewarded her Masters in Library Science. A very driven woman who believed in education, she began her career at the local high school in Demopolis, Alabama. Encouraged by her family, she moved with her 2 boys to Deltona, Florida. Here she became the Administrator of the library at Lyman High School and later moved to Lake Brantley High School. Here she received numerous awards and recognition associated with her dedication to the advancement of education thru the knowledge of words and the love of books. Many young students owe their success to the dedication that Jean had to her career and to her calling. Not only was Jean dedicated to the sciences, she was very talented in the arts as well. She loved painting, flower arrangement, cake decorating and writing poetry that she also illustrated. Her family has been the recipient of many beautiful silk flower arrangements customized to their homes and a birthday or special occasion never went by that “Mama Jean” did not present her grandchildren with customized birthday cakes of their choice. Plus, at Christmas, her baking and candy making would have everyone sneaking into the kitchen after bedtime! As a child, Jean gave her heart to Jesus Christ. As an adult, she was a member of First Baptist Church of New Port Richey. She established many of her life-long friendships there. She was a member of the choir and never missed an opportunity to witness about our Lord to others. Her example and spiritual journey has shaped the lives of her family and so many others that had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her two sons and their wives: Paul M. & Lana Anthony (Lubbock, TX) Dr Charles R. & LaSandra Anthony (Brooksville, FL). 4 grandchildren: Charles R. Anthony II, M.D. , Jacquelyne A. Anthony M.D., Kevin Kimball and Rachel L. Anthony. She was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond S. Wolf, her 2 brothers - Bobby R. Nichols and George W. Nichols. She is survived by her brother Leo D. Nichols. A family service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Faupel Funeral Home.
