Obituary of Filippo Febo

Filippo "Philip" Febo 90, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 11, 2022. He was born in Spoltore, Italy and was the son of the late Pietro and Antonietta Febo. He immigrated at the age of 26 to the United States with his loving wife Maria, after serving in the Italian Army and mastering his trade of tailoring. While raising his family in Schenectady, NY, he learned the English language and became a professional tailor. In 1963, he became the proud owner of Philip's Custom Tailoring in Schenectady, the best tailor shop on Upper Union Street. After retiring in 1985, Philip and Maria moved to Florida where they enjoyed their time on the beach and most importantly, playing his favorite card game, Scopa. Philip continued his tailoring skills working for Wolf Brothers, where he met and became the personal tailor for the owner of the New York Yankees, George Steinbrenner. You could always hear Philip talking proudly of his friendship with George. Philip embraced his family by being the best husband of 65 years to Maria (DeLeonardis). He was a loving father to his children: Piera (Michael) Sardella, FL, Anna (Anthony) Bojarczuk, NY, Lucy (Todd) Bress, FL, Dante (Kate) Febo, NY, Philip (Kimberly) Febo, TN, and grandfather to his grandchildren: Daniel Sardella, Nicholas and Bianca Bojarczuk, Juliano Febo, Alexis and Isabella Febo. He is survived by his brother Mario (Carmela) Febo, sister Marisa (Silvio) DiGirolamo, and sister-in-law Ninetta Febo, all residing in Italy. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Lina (Adriano) Sciocchetti and Anna (John) Pitucci, brother-in-law Pat (Antoinette) DeLeonardis and several godchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his brothers, Dante & Vincenzo, sisters and brother-in-law Anna & Mario Vianale and Nicoletta & Giovanni D'Anniballe, all in Italy. Philip is also preceded in by his mother & father-in-law Emelia & Vincenzo DeLeonardis, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Josephine & Augusto Sciocchetti, godchild Maria Sciocchetti and brother-in-law Mario Mascitelli. Resting place will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, New York, where a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
