Obituary of Mae W Wiggins

Please share a memory of Mae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mae Woitschek Wiggins died Tuesday July 20, 2021 at the age of 92. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida she lived a full life here in Florida apart from three years when she lived in Atlanta, Georgia. A graduate of St. Petersburg High School, she completed two years of college plus many college courses related to child care. Mae’s work provided financial support to her husband Richard after their marriage in 1948 and made it possible for Richard to complete college and seminary for ministerial work. Mae later established a childcare center in St. Petersburg, Florida, which grew to provide care for 45 children and was commended by county teachers. Mae was a Pastor’s wife at five churches over the course of 42 years and was always very involved in the church activities. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, taught Sunday School and was known for creating fabulous wedding cakes. Mae had three wonderful children; Nina in northern New York, Rick in Temple Terrace, FL and her eldest daughter Becky who passed at the age of 36, a terrible tragedy of Mae’s life. Mae is survived by her adoring husband of 73 years Richard Wiggins, their two children Nina and Rick, 7 grandchildren (Gina, Leah, Melissa, Jennifer, Dan, Jacky and Gabby) as well as 11 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
